Eyelid surgery results are very long lasting

Eyelid surgery results are very long lasting. In fact they can last a lifetime. It’s true that, after a facelift, faces may relax over the years and need some maintenance. Of all the facial procedures that we do, upper and lower eyelid surgery usually does not require any maintenance. A good result can last a lifetime.

I perform all of the aforementioned surgeries on an outpatient basis, although the hospital where I work offers overnight stays at a very reasonable rate for those who prefer. Most of my outpatients either go home or to their hotel. Many people travel to have me do their surgery. We have arrangements with several of the hotels in the area, offering accommodations at special rates. The surgery procedures take between one and three hours or more, depending on which of the many options that I mentioned above is best for a particular individual. Most are done with general anesthesia and constant monitoring by board certified specialists to maximize safety and assure a painless surgical experience. People always want to know about costs. Because there are so many different options and different ways of doing the upper eyelids, different ways of doing the lower eyelids, some times including the forehead and/or mid-face and sometimes not, we really have to see people in order to advise them of their choices before we can quote meaningful fees. What I offer for my out-of-town and international patients who don’t find it convenient to come in for a preliminary face-to-face consultation is to have them send digital photos for me to evaluate.We then arrange a telephone discussion.While we are both looking at their pictures, we compare observations, and I describe what I can do to help them reach their goals. They can then consider their options. We can talk again or communicate by email, so that by the time they come in they’ve made their decisions and we know what were going to do.
