Vermont Corrective Ear Surgery - Vermont Otoplasty
For those that are bothered by how far their ears stick out, a procedure called Otoplasty may be able to help. This procedure is used to set the ears back against the side of the head and bring the ears to a “normal” position. One must look at the results of ear surgery as enhancing one’s natural beauty; the point is not perfection, but the most natural look possible.
The procedure itself lasts between 1 1/2 and 3 hours depending on the severity of the correction. Dr. Metzner uses a combination of techniques to get the most natural result. Vermont plastic surgeon Dr. Metzner will do his best to hide any scarring so that it will be fairly hidden in the natural fold of the ear. While there are instances where only one ear appears to be an issue, surgery is usually performed on both ears to promote symmetry.
Corrective surgery of the ears can be performed at any time after age 4. Dr. Metzner find that Otoplasty is one of the most rewarding procedures as the results are sometimes very dramatic and can have a substantial impact on a persons self esteem.
