David M. Metzner, M.D. is an Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon. His specialty areas are minimizing the effects of aging, redefining facial features and contouring the body. When working with a patient, Dr. Metzner thinks of himself not only as a surgeon but also as an artist. As an artisan working with instruments instead of brushes, he combines his special surgical skills, artistic insight and good communication abilities to achieve a very natural appearance for his patients. Dr. Metzner believes plastic surgery is both a science and an art: a good surgeon must combine the two successfully for his patients. Furthermore, he believes that every patient’s aesthetic surgery needs and goals are unique. A surgeon must be truly versatile to customize procedures in order to give each of his patients the best possible result. As such, Dr. Metzner honed his analytical and creative skills through art classes at Harvard, the creation of custom jewelry and sculpting.
SURGICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Dr Metzner is board certified in two specialties recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties: Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology. He is a past member of the teaching faculty of Harvard Medical School and a Clinical Professor at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He served as visiting professor at the Nassau County, New York Medical Center, at the Medical College of Wisconsin and as visiting lecturer at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Metzner practiced cosmetic plastic surgery in the New Orleans area for thirty years until he lost his home in Hurricane Katrina. He and his family decided to return to New England and he has moved his practice to Manchester, VT where he is the plastic surgeon for The Vermont Center for Plastic Surgery and Dermatology. Dr. Metzner has patients from all over the world.
| AWARDS AND MEMBERSHIPS: Recognized by his peers, Dr. Metzner was chosen as President of the Louisiana Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and twice as president of the Double Boarded Society, a national organization limited to surgeons certified in both Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology. He was the 2005 President of the Harvard Club of Louisiana. Dr. Metzner is a three-time recipient of the American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award and a four-time recipient of the Appreciation Award from the North American Medical/Dental Association.He also received the prestigious Walter Scott Brown Award granted by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. . Dr. Metzner is or has been a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Louisiana Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Louisiana State Medical Society, the Orleans Parish Medical Society, the Harvard Club of Louisiana and the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. He was a member of the first cultural and scientific mission to the People’s Republic of China. He is an author and international lecturer whose speaking engagements have taken him to Europe, South America and Asia.He earned specialist recognition from Marquis’ Who’s Who and was named one of the New Orleans’ area Top Plastic Surgeons in the New Orleans Magazine survey. Dr. Metzner has been selected as one of America’s Top Doctors in the exclusive Castle Connolly America’s Cosmetic Doctors and Dentists Guide and in Consumers’ Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top Physicians. A peer review nationwide survey elected him to the Best Doctors in America database, an honor awarded to only about 5% of all doctors in the U.S. |
